Burke UMC's Prayer Shawl ministry group for youth and adults knits and crochets shawls for individuals who need to be reminded that through it all, they are enfolded in God’s love. These individuals may be facing very difficult events, such as serious illness or family stress, or life changing events, such as moving away or giving birth. The shawls are made with prayer and blessed by the group before being presented to the recipients. Since 2003, our prayer shawl ministry has knitted and crocheted over 400 shawls for people in need of Christian caring. Meetings are Tuesday nights at 7:30 in room B-12, and anyone is welcome to drop in regardless of crafting experience. If you would like to learn more about participating in this caring ministry, or if you know someone who would be comforted by a tangible reminder of the love of God which always surrounds us, contact the church office or the prayer shawl coordinator, Sallie Tiso.
Teen Prayer Shawl ministry meets the 2nd and 4th Thursday each month at 7:30. No experience neessary; you will be taught everything you need to know! Do bring a pair of knitting needles or a crochet hook and some yarn. For more information contact Louise Gunderson via the church office.
Join us for coffee, juice and cookies in the Fellowship Hall between the 9:30 and 11:00 worship services on Sunday mornings. This is a great time to get to know the people you see around you every Sunday! If you are interested in being a set-up/clean-up volunteer (which are always appreciated) please contact the church office.
Home from college, newly graduated, or just trying to stay young? All are welcome to come join this explosive new group and have a great time! Fun activities include, but are not limited to: dinner, movies, bowling, baseball games, miniature golf, karaoke, and concerts. Watch the bulletin or check the website for upcoming events.
