In the mean time, we've compiled a list of frequently asked questions about our church for your perusal. You may be new to our church, or a long time member, and still learn something new!

What time are your services?
We have worship services on Saturday nights at 5:30pm, and Sunday mornings at 8:15, 9:30, and 11:00am. For more details please visit our worship services page.

I came to church and the parking lot was full. Where else can I park?
Before and after worship, we offer shuttle bus service to and from the Burke School parking lot, located on the opposite corner of Burke Lake Road and Burke Centre Parkway. (see map on home page)

Is childcare provided during your services and events?
Providing for the needs of your family is always a priority here at Burke UMC, so there is competent and safe childcare provided for all services and most major events. Please feel free to contact the church office if there is ever a question.

What programs do you offer for youth? ...for children? ...for adults?
Burke UMC offers a wide variety of opportunities in education, mission, service, and fellowship. Many are listed on this website including our pages for youth ministries, children's ministries, and adult and family fellowship. You can find a comprehensive list of all programs on our opportunities to serve page. And of course, our weekly bulletins and monthly newsletters. Best of all, join us for worship! We look forward to your involvement.

May I attend your services or events dressed casually?
Of course. By most standards, we are a relaxed and casual church. With the exception of your bathrobe or swimsuit, you'll feel comfortable here just as you are.

Where does your church stand on issues of our times? (i.e. homosexuality, abortion, war, etc.)
Our church is a United Methodist Congregation and proud of its keen social consciousness. Our denomination's Social Principles are available in pamphlet form. Drop by and we'll give you a copy, or read it online here.

Will we be comfortable if one of us is from a different religious background? (i.e. Roman Catholic, Jewish, Agnostic, etc.)
You just might be surprised by the number of families who have found Burke UMC to provide a kind of "meeting ground" for those who have had some experience with another faith, or none at all. We don't expect you to come knowing anything, but yearning for something of value in life.

Does your church have a pre-school?
Yes. For the past 25 years, Burke UMC has offered a pre-school for 3, 4, and 5 year olds. You may learn more by contacting the church office or visiting www.bumponline.org.

What about weddings, baptisms, and funerals for non-members?
The church staff will be happy to answer your questions about the array of pastoral functions offered for members and non-members. You can visit our web page covering weddings, baptisms, and funerals online, or contact the church office for more information.
