All children ages 4 through Kindergarten are invited to join the Cherub Choir. Rehearsals are Wednesday afternoons from 4:30-5:10pm in room B6, directed by Tammy Zerbo. The Cherub Choir sings once a month during the 11:00am worship service and on Christmas Eve at the 4:00pm service.
The Good News Players is a new group offered to 1st - 3rd graders. Our main objective is to work together to create music to glorify God. We use the “Orff Approach,” which combines elements of speech, rhythm, movement, and song with body percussion and transference to instruments. Players learn through doing, exploring, and improvising. The Orff method is a globally accepted music education approach conceived by the German composer, Carl Off (1895 – 1982). Because we want to keep our focus on the children’s learning processes, Good New Players will have limited performances.
All students in grades 1-6 invited to join the Good News Singers Children's Choir directed by Tammy Zerbo and the Good News Ringers Children's Handbell Choir directed by Ingrid Bowers. Rehearsals are on Wednesday afternoons from 4:30-6:00pm:

Good News Singers and Good News Ringers perform once a month at the 11:00 worship, as well as on Christmas Eve at the 4:00pm service. In addition, the Good News Singers present a musical each year. The Good News Ringers participate in an end of the year handbell concert and attend a local handbell festival each year.
When we sing and play, Singers should be in the choir room at 10:30 am, and Ringers should be in the sanctuary at 10:30 am to warm-up and rehearse our music for that service. Be sure to wear your choir shirts! (Need a shirt? Contact the church office.)
Each summer Burke United Methodist Church hosts a Music Camp for the community. This camp is open to church members as well as any child from our community who wants to attend the camp. Camp is held from 9am -noon Monday through Friday. During the week the children have classes in Handbells, Orff Instruments, Drama and Choir. They work on a short musical to present on the last day. In that performance for the parents, the children also demonstrate what they learned in Handbells and Orff class. The camp is open to children who will be entering grades 2-7. The cost is $20 for the week and includes a camp t-shirt that is worn for the closing performance. Stay tuned for information on this fun summer performing opportunity!
