Worship is central to our life together at Burke United Methodist Church. As we gather, we discover the Spirit of a good and loving God shaping our lives and forging a response to the varying circumstances of life. Our worship services reflect a number of distinct styles and are open to all. Childcare is provided at 9:30 and 11:00 services.
LifeSign contemporary worship.
The 8:15 service is designed to begin and end within a 45 minute timeframe. Come and discover a fresh experience with God as the day begins.
The 9:30 service offers the broadest array of our ministry and music programs. You will find God’s people here in full voice. Sunday School is available for all ages during the school year. Nursery care for pre-K and younger is provided.
At 11:00, the pace slows somewhat as prayer and praise comes to the forefront. Children ages K through 6th grade
attend Worship Service with their parents. Following "Children's Time in Worship" students may follow teachers to Room 9 for a Bible story and activities during the school year. Sunday School is available for pre-K children. Nursery care for children younger than pre-K is provided.
Parking at the 9:30 service can sometimes become congested. To alleviate the congestion, round trip shuttle bus service is provided for the 9:30 service to and from our auxiliary parking at Burke School, located on the corner of Burke Lake Road and Burke Centre Parkway, diagonally across from the church. (see map on home page.)
Burke United Methodist Church has a weekly rhythm that includes a contemplative prayer service on Wednesday mornings. Different forms of prayer are practiced including a time of shared silence. Our prayer service dedicates time to praying for the deep needs of individuals, families in our congregation as well as the deep needs of our world.
If you would like to develop your prayer life and spend time practicing prayer in community, please join us each Wednesday morning from 8:30am until 9:15am.
Prayer is a powerful and ever present opportunity for Christians to seek
God's company and comfort. At Burke United Methodist Church, our
Prayer Ministry takes to heart the joys and concerns of our congregation,
community, and the world. Individuals are encouraged to pray for
those persons listed in the printed bulletin distributed at our
worship services throughout the week. In addition, groups within
our church family are asked to pray for particular persons or ministries
each month, as listed in the monthly Prayer
Ministry Guide. While prayer is available to everyone, for some
it is a particular spiritual gift. If you feel led to join Burke
United Methodist Church's Prayer Ministry, please contact Janet
Salbert.
If you or someone you know are in need of prayer, please contact
one of our pastors at the church office. You may also want to
