Call to Worship

Opening Hymn

"Christ is Risen," 307 (UMH)

1. Christ is risen! Shout Hosanna!
Celebrate this day of days.
Christ is risen! Hush in wonder;
all creation is amazed.
In the desert all-surrounding,
see, a spreading tree has grown.
Healing leaves of grace abounding
bring a taste of love unknown.

2. Christ is risen! Raise your spirits
from the caverns of despair.
Walk with gladness in the morning.
See what love can do and dare.
Drink the wine of resurrection,
not a servant, but a friend;
Jesus is our strong companion.
Joy and peace shall never end.

3. Christ is risen! Earth and heaven
nevermore shall be the same.
Break the bread of new creation
where the world is still in pain.
Tell its grim, demonic chorus:
"Christ is risen! Get you gone!"
God the First and Last is with us.
Sing Hosanna everyone!

Opening Prayer

Holy God, we come together to worship, a people who would like to think that we love you with all our hearts and souls, with all our might, but there are so many other things in our lives right now that clamor for our attention. As we celebrated Easter, we move into the Easter season having trouble seeing your grace and love as we are relegated to our homes. O Lord, we ask for your reminder that you are the one in whom we live and move and have our being.

We really do want to hear your voice above all of the other voices in our lives.
So we come before you today, with our understandably sidetracked minds, asking that you would make yourself known to us, that you would help us to recognize the presence of the Holy in our homes and lives, and that you would continue to challenge us, inspire us, and make us into the people you want us to be. Amen.

"Morning Has Broken," Traditional Gaelic
Barger Family

Morning has broken like the first morning, blackbird has woken like the first bird. Praise for the singing!  Praise for the morning!  Praise for them, springing fresh from the Word!

Sweet the rain’s new fall sunlit from heaven, like the first seed all on the first grass. Praise for the sweetness of the wet garden, sprung in completeness where his feet pass.

Mine is the sunlight!  Mine is the morning born of the one light Eden saw play!  Praise with elation, praise every morning, God’s recreation of the new day!

Pastoral Prayer & Lord's Prayer

Scripture Reading

Isaiah 32:16-20 (NRSV)

16 Then justice will dwell in the wilderness,
    and righteousness abide in the fruitful field.
17 The effect of righteousness will be peace,
    and the result of righteousness, quietness and trust forever.
18 My people will abide in a peaceful habitation,
    in secure dwellings, and in quiet resting places.
19 The forest will disappear completely,[a]
    and the city will be utterly laid low.
20 Happy will you be who sow beside every stream,
    who let the ox and the donkey range freely.

The Word of God for the People of God.
Thanks be to God.

Responsive Hymn

"Happy the Home When God is There," #445 (UMH)

1. Happy the home when God is there,
and love fills every breast;
when one their wish, and one their prayer,
and one their heavenly rest.

2. Happy the home where Jesus' name
is sweet to every ear;
where children early speak his fame,
and parents hold him dear.

3. Happy the home where prayer is heard,
and praise is wont to rise;
where parents love the sacred Word
and all its wisdom prize.

4. Lord, let us in our homes agree
this blessed peace to gain;
unite our hearts in love to thee,
and love to all will reign.

Prayer of Dedication (Clint & Vickie Lambert)

Loving God, we come to you from our homes, thankful for shelter and your abundant love in our lives. As we come to give our gifts and our tithes, may these gifts spread your grace and love, particularly as we are separated from each other. Bless these gifts as you bless your people in this challenging time. Amen.

Thank you for honoring God with your tithes and offerings as we continue in ministry in our church, our community, and throughout the world.

You can mail your gift to the church office, drop it in the secure mailbox in the front circle, or use the link below to give on-line.

Closing Hymn

"Praise, My Soul, The King of Heaven," #66 (UMH)

1. Praise, my soul, the King of heaven,
to the throne thy tribute bring;
ransomed, healed, restored, forgiven,
evermore God's praises sing.
Alleluia! Alleluia!
Praise the everlasting King.

2. Praise the Lord for grace and favor
to all people in distress;
praise God, still the same as ever,
slow to chide, and swift to bless.
Alleluia! Alleluia!
Glorious now God's faithfulness.

3. Father-like, God tends and spares us;
well our feeble frame God knows;
mother-like, God gently bears us,
rescues us from all our foes.
Alleluia! Alleluia!
Widely yet God's mercy flows.

4. Angels in the heights, adoring,
you behold God face to face;
saints triumphant, now adoring,
gathered in from every race.
Alleluia! Alleluia!
Praise with us the God of grace.
