Meet the staff!
While the building is closed, BUMC staff are working remotely. When you leave them a voicemail message, it goes to their email and they will return your call as soon as they can! If you're not sure who to get in touch with, you can call the church office at 703.250.6100 and we'll help you figure out how to get the information you need.

Rev. Dr. Katie Phillips
Pastor Katie holds her M.Div. from Wesley Theological Seminary and will earn her doctorate in church leadership in May of 2021. While earning an undergrad degree in English and history from Boston University, Katie joined the performing cast of Improv Boston - and eventually became part of the Artistic Staff. After returning to Virginia, she performed professional improv comedy in Washington D.C. with Washington Improv Theater (WIT), and ultimately became the Artistic Director. Her time performing allowed her to travel, perform at national comedy festivals, and film a television pilot and national television commercial. In between, Katie loved working with Young Life and teaching high school English in public & private schools as well as the Virginia Regional Governor's School.
Layered together - she worked either part or full time in the church for 16 years prior to becoming clergy. (Katie is passionate about the spiritual development of all of God's people - and believes that humor, storytelling, fellowship, and authenticity are key ingredients to that process.)
Katie has three incredible daughters, Olive, Edie, & Kit - and a great husband (Kevin) who occupy her time, heart, and creativity!
