Connecting with Compassion

At Burke, we recognize that we have been given the gift of compassion. God calls us to be compassionate in how we engage one another and ourselves. At Burke, we seek to offer ways to care with support, welcome, fellowship, and good health!

Volunteer Highlights:

Remember your first visits to BUMC? Was there a warm greeting or helpful person that made a difference? Be that person for others. Click HERE to sign up to learn more about our Welcome/Connection ministries.

Flowers bring a smile to all! Drivers are needed to deliver the Sunday altar flowers. Some weeks our altar flower arrangements go home with the people who donated them, but other weeks they get delivered to people who could use a little bit of extra beauty in their lives. Able to be on call to drive flowers to a neighbor once in a while? Let Pat Warner know at warnerp@cox.net or 703-646-5474 and she'll send you more info!

Community Offerings:

DivorceCare

Separation or divorce can be one of life's most difficult experiences. There is no need to go through this time alone. You can visit divorcecare.org/findagroup to find a DivorceCare group meeting near you. With DivorceCare, you will find a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you.

GriefShare

A GriefShare support group is a safe, welcoming place where people understand the difficult emotions of grief. Through this 13-week group, you’ll discover what to expect in the days ahead and what’s “normal” in grief. Since there are no neat, orderly stages of grief, you’ll learn helpful ways of coping with grief, in all its unpredictability—and gain solid support each step of the way. You can find more resources at www.griefshare.org/.
