Faith and Racial Justice
(Just Faith Race Module #3)

When: Monday nights at 7 pm, beginning 9/20 - runs for 10 weeks

Class Goals: 

  • To educate participants about systemic racism

  • To provide participants with practical tools for dismantling systemic racism

  • To provide biblical and spiritual foundation for dismantling systemic racism

The primary resource for this class is The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness by Michelle Alexander. You can read the course description here!

Faith and Poverty – a Justice Response (Just Faith Poverty Module #3)

When: Tuesday nights at 7 pm, beginning 9/21 - runs for 10 weeks

Class Goals:

  • To learn about systemic barriers that make it difficult for people to rise out of poverty.

  • To study the techniques and teachings of spiritual leaders including Pope Francis, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, and Bryan Stevenson.

  • To discern individual and social actions to work for systemic change in your community.

Eco Justice – Sacred Land: Food and Farming (Just Faith Climate Justice Module #1)

When: Wednesday nights at 7 pm beginning on 9/22 - runs for 10 weeks

Class goals:

  • To celebrate our sacred connection to the land and the nourishment it provides

  • To learn about how food and farming practices affect marginalized communities and the climate crisis

  • To develop tools for supporting sustainable food and farming practices in order to build healthy communities and a healthy planet.

Social Justice Book Club

When: Monday afternoons at 2:30-3:30 pm beginning on 9/20 - runs for 6 weeks

What: We'll be reading Pushout: The Criminalization of Black Girls in Schools by Monique W. Morris. You can find the guide with the weekly readings here!
