Hi there, new friend!
Welcome to Burke UMC!
We are so glad you found us. We are a thriving church community that values relationships and welcomes you wherever you are in your faith journey. We’d love to tell you a little bit about ourselves and would love to get to know a little more about you!
You can click here to read a bit about our history. We hope the information on this page will prepare you for your first visit but if you have any questions before then, please feel free to reach out at any point!
Here are some answers to questions you might be wondering about:
Is worship online or in person?
Both! We are currently offering both in person and online worship. We hope you'll choose whatever worship experience works best for you!
What time is worship?
Both our indoor and online worship services are at 9:30 am! Our online worship service is livestreamed to Facebook - you can watch along by clicking here. Busy Sunday at 9:30 am? You can worship on your own schedule on our website at burkeumc.org/online later in the day or week. Be sure to register your attendance to let us know you're worshipping with us.
Do I need to wear a mask for in person worship?
Masks are currently optional for our worship services. Please practice whatever safety precautions feel most comfortable for you and your family!
Where do I go once I get there?
Burke UMC is located at 6200 Burke Centre Parkway. You can drive through the parking lot and find a spot - there is plenty of parking on our property. Enter through the main doors off the circle in the front of the building. Ushers will hand you a bulletin. Feel free to ask them if you have any questions!
What should I wear?
We are a “casual dress” church but you are welcome to dress as you are comfortable.
Can my kids stay with me during the worship service?
Absolutely! Children are welcome in our worship space and we believe they are an important part of our church family. If you have kids ages 4-2nd grade, they're welcome to join in children's church. They'll be invited to go with our staff/volunteers before the sermon. Have questions? Ask a volunteer and they'll be happy to point you towards Katie Glick, our Director of Children and Youth Discipleship!
Do you offer Sunday School?
Yes! Our Sunday School classes are kicking off again this fall for all ages. You can find information about adult discipleship opportunities here. Children and youth Sunday School meets at 10:30 am each week. You can find more details on our kids and youth pages!
What if I haven't been to church in a while?
We totally understand! Honestly, the past year or so had been a re-adjustment period for everyone. We will have volunteers (in churchy terms, we call them greeters and ushers) who will say hi, point you in the right direction, help you find a seat, show you where the bathroom is, etc. We want you to feel comfortable in our worship space whether you haven't been to church in a year, five years, or this is your first time visiting a church! There is a place for you here in this community and we hope you'll come give a worship service a try.
