Our family services will include a spontaneous nativity where kids can join in the retelling of the Christmas story! Our traditional services will have a time of Holy Communion and will end with a candlelit hymn. We hope you'll find the type of service that works best for you and your family.
*Please make a note on your calendars that our worship service on Sunday, December 29 will be online-only to allow everyone, including our staff & volunteers, to worship from home with their families.
Christmas Tree Sales: Beginning November 29
Christmas Trees are on sale again this year in the Burke UMC parking lot! Come out and choose the perfect tree for your family while supporting mission and education efforts here in our local community.

2024 Tree Sale Dates:

Friday, November 29: 11 am-7 pm

Saturdays: 10 am-7 pm

Sundays: Noon-7 pm

Monday through Friday: 6-8 pm​

Prices range from $85 for 6-7 ft trees, $95 for 8-9 ft trees, and $150 for 9-10 ft trees. Sales will run through December 15th or until trees run out. Shop early for best selection as inventory is limited!
Poinsettias in Honor/Memory of Loved Ones
You can purchase a poinsettia for $14 in honor or memory of loved ones to decorate our altar this Christmas Eve now through December 16! If you would like to pick up your flowers, that can be done after the last service on December 24 or between 12-2 pm on Thursday, December 26. Envelopes can be picked up this morning at the Connection Center or during office hours this week.
Outreach Opportunities: Donate Christmas Gifts for local families
​There are many ways to give this year to help local children feel tangible love this Christmas!

Sponsor a child through our Angel Tree; pick up a tag in the entryway and drop off unwrapped gift by December 8. Gifts will go to children who are part of the Rising Hope Mission Church community.

Buy gifts valued $10-$25 for children 17 and younger and drop them off before December 10th. These gifts will be put in our Holiday Parent Shop where our co-op families can pick out gifts for their children this Christmas.

Advent LEARN Classes
We have many opportunities to learn this Advent here at Burke UMC, including a new short-term study focusing on Disrupting Darkness: Light, Love, and the Birth of Jesus, which begins on Sunday, December 1. Visit our LEARN page at burkeumc.org/learn for more info on all our studies and to register!

Reverse Advent Bags
All households are invited to pick up a Reverse Advent Calendar on Sunday, December 1 (or on the 8th, if you won't be worshipping in person with us on the 1st.) Our reverse advent calendar invites you to donate items or perform an action of service each day during Advent. Bags should be returned on Christmas Eve (or anytime after that!). Questions? The Night Shift Before Christmas Musical: December 7 (3:30 pm)
Come enjoy a fun & entertaining telling of the Christmas story through this year's children and youth musical: The Night Shift Before Christmas. The show is free and open to the community! Presented by the Good News Singers and members of In His Name youth choir
A Night in Bethlehem Advent Celebration: December 7 (4-6 pm)
Visitors will participate in a census, visit scenes from the Christmas story (shepherds in the fields, the magi, and the nativity), crafts, refreshments, fire pits with smores and live animals. This event is free and open to the community!

Lessons & Carols Worship Service: December 15 (9:30 am)
A traditional Lessons and Carols service, where the sermon is replaced with scriptures and hymns to tell the Christmas Story through song. This will take place during our regular weekly 9:30 am worship service.
Longest Night Worship Service: December 17 (7:30 pm)
A quieter, more reflective service for those who are grieving or wanting a space to reflect this holiday season. This worship service will be held in our Sanctuary and is open to the community.
Online-Only Worship: December 29 (9:30 am)
We will have an online-only worship service on Sunday, December 29! There will be no in-person worship this day. You can find our online worship HERE.
