STARBUCKS AND CHIPOTLE GLEANING

Monday & Thursday Mornings

Starbucks & Chipotle Gleaning
Each week, volunteers glean surplus food from Burke Centre Chipotle, Burke Centre Starbucks, Outback, and Whole Foods - and deliver it to the Katherine Hanley Family Shelter. You can be involved by taking a turn picking up and delivering the food once a month.

WEEKEND FOOD BAGS

Social workers in neighborhood schools identify kids that they know are food-insufficient.  These children get breakfast and lunch at school, but we worry if they have enough for the weekends. A small team assembled these bags each month.

Items needed (can be dropped in the outside donation box at any time): mac and cheese cups, soup cups, individual serve pasta cups, shelf stable milk, breakfast bars, cheese/cracker packages. Most items are also available on our Amazon wish list.

ECHO (ECUMENCIAL COMMUNITIES HELPING OTHES)

An ecumenical area support ministry that serves immediate needs not covered by social services in the Burke/Springfield area.  ECHO provides food, clothing, and household goods, job counseling.  We support them financially and through donations of the above items.  We assist at Thanksgiving and Christmas with food baskets and gifts.

Donate: vegetable oil, syrup, juice, laundry detergent, shaving cream, deodorant, pots and pans, queen-sized bedding, men's t-shirts (size small), toilet paper, paper towels. BUMC has collection bins for ECHO in the missions area near the Fellowship Hall for those who have small items to donate, and do not need a receipt. (If you have a large amount to donate, or if you would like a receipt, please take your items directly to ECHO, which is located at 7205 Old Keene Mill Road in Springfield. ECHO accepts donations weeksdays, 9:30AM-12:30PM, or 7:00-9:00PM on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.)

REBUILDING TOGETHER

Throughout the year

Rebuilding Together
A team of people work to rebuild and refurbish existing homes for elderly and those in need who are unable to do the home repairs and/or upkeep themselves. We also have a year round ministry of repair work for the elderly and our Rising Hope Mission Church. If you have these skills, let us know!
