You can imagine the panic a low-income mom of 3 feels at Back to School time as she tries to figure out how to provide both school supplies and new sneakers for her kids. In the Summer of 2018, members of the Burke community, including our friends at Heatherwood and all the kids who attended BUMC'S Vacation Bible School, collected backpacks and school supplies for over 115 kids at Bethany House (https:bhnv.org), Rising Hope UMC (https://risinghopeumc.org), ECHO (www.echo-inc.org), Duffy House (www.theduffyhouse.org) and Wesley Housing (https://wesleyhousing.org)
